A Message from the Owner

Although California remains mostly closed due to COVID-19, and individuals are recommended to stay indoors due to unhealthy air quality, we Californians know how to stay strong and resilient. Nick Rail Music is no different. While our stores may be on reduced hours and reduced staff, we continue to offer the highest quality of customer care, instrument repair, and musical product and support.

Safety Measures:

All employees will be wearing masks and/or face shields. Government mandates also require that customers wear a mask upon entering the store.

Curbside service and contact-less service. We are happy to bring rental instruments or purchased items directly to your car. Simply call the individual store location and we will come out to assist you.

Hand sanitizer is available at all registers and counters and credit card keypads are wiped down after each use. Bathrooms are cleaned after each use and the general sales floor is cleaned at the end of each business day. We ask that all customers use hand sanitizer before handling product and ask for assistance before playing an instrument.

Repair shops are OPEN and busier than ever! After sanitizing thousands of school instruments this summer, the repair team at Nick Rail Music is well equipped to handle any and all cleaning or repair needs. We offer several levels of cleaning services, from a quick wipe down of all the most handled parts, to a thorough ultrasonic bath.  *According to CDC guidelines, instruments brought in for repair will be quarantined for 72 hours before work is performed.

Lesson studios are unfortunately closed right now due to COVID-19 Social Distancing requirements. Stay tuned, though, for more information regarding group lessons and zoom lessons!

Music in the time of COVID

Students! Keep practicing your instrument! Right now is the perfect time to get familiar with at-home recording, play along tracks, and many other virtual music opportunities. For more information regarding play along tracks, online sheet music resources, and other ideas to keep playing, please contact our store associates.

Parents! It’s no secret that music has been proven time and time again to improve learning abilities and school performance in other subjects, and increase the quality of life by those students involved in music programs. Your child needs positivity and stability now more than ever (with three children of my own participating in virtual learning, I have seen the effects of this isolation first hand). Music offers an opportunity for growth, self worth, and connectivity that most other subjects simply do not. If your child is feeling particularly discouraged, please stop by our store and our well-trained staff would be happy to help them find the perfect instrument for them. We also have many resources for online music, zoom lessons by qualified teachers, and more.

Teachers – don’t give up! California is facing a unique challenge as all public schools are required to be virtual. Below are some resources to help get your band or orchestra class on its feet through virtual learning. We are working with some up and coming music software companies, as well, to build programs and support networks that will help sustain us through this difficult learning curve. We are also available for your students to try our instruments, find the correct sizing, mouthpiece try outs, etc. all with proper social distancing protocols or even contactless assistance.
